Blog, website or gallery: Rachel Greig Photography, Darkroom Door

Loves to: make a mess! And chocolate slice. YUM!

Loves to create: Anything – cards, layouts, books, ATCs etc. I’d love to get into more altered art and jewelry too. My style is anything from simple and quick to more elaborate arty projects.

Favourite Darkroom Door product: No specific favourites, love them all for their own reasons. However, when I discover a new way of using a product that I didn’t think of when I was designing it, I do tend to have a soft spot for that product for a while ☺ I feel like giving it a little gold star!

Have you ever been in a darkroom? Yes, every night when I turn out the lights to go to sleep. ;) But really, yes, much of my life has been spent in darkrooms. I eat my carrots. I see well in the dark.

Let’s say you’re invited to come into our darkroom for a day. What would you bring with you? A very good sense of humour!

Are you afraid of the dark?  Yes, and I still freak myself out when I’m in the darkroom (honest!) If I need to take the rubbish bins out when it’s dark, I think about what could jump out from the trees beside our house. My imagination gets the better of me sometimes.

How did Darkroom Door begin? I used my own still life and travel photos in my creations and artworks. I thought others may like to use the photos too, so I began the Filmstrips range a few years ago. I then went on to design some paper and rubber stamps that are distributed through Stamp-It Australia. My ideas have continued to grow and expand, so I needed a new business to be the platform and consolidation of our collections. So Darkroom Door began. Why the name? I am at my creative best in the darkroom. When I go through my darkroom door, I know I enter a world that is unlike the outside. It’s dark, it’s creative, it’s magic. You just never know what magic will happen behind that door. I want you to experience that too. I want to share it with you. I want you to unlock the artist within!

And onto the artwork... although I don't do a lot of layouts these days, I have created a couple of quick ones using a few different products... here they are:

Supplies used: Venetian San Marco paper, Esplori paper, Venetian Wordstrips.

Supplies used: Venetian San Marco paper, Ti Amo paper, Venetian Vol 2 Filmstrips, Journal stamps.

Supplies used: Darkroom Door Blush paper, Journal stamps, Ranger Archival inks (Olive, Grape, Tangerine, Carnation), Stamp-It Chipboard letters.

Supplies used: Darkroom Door Meadow paper, Full Bloom Quartet Vol 2 paper, Making Memories rub ons, Tim Holtz Chronicles foam stamps, Adirondack Snow Cap paint dabber.

Thanks for looking - hope you enjoyed it!
