Merry Christmas Baubles

Darkroom Door - Tuesday, November 18, 2014
Hello, it’s Robyn with you today sharing a card using one of the new Christmas stamp sets – Brushed Christmas Vol 2.  I have used a pearlescent ink for this card – this ink makes it so simple to add a touch of bling to your cards without the work of embossing with a glittery powder.

I have also used the new Christmas Script background stamp and created a greeting for the card by simply outlining my words of choice with a gold pen.  If you look closely at the stamp, there are heaps of other words I could have easily outlined – jolly, magical, believe, holiday cheer, celebrate, peace etc. This makes it so easy to create a batch of cards, all with different words outlined adding a unique touch to each.

1. Stamp two baubles from Brushed Christmas Vol 2 using Pearlescent Sky Blue pigment ink onto white cardstock. Emboss with gold embossing powder but only cover parts of the image with powder to give a random coverage. Trim closely.

2. Stamp Christmas Script background onto white cardstock using Pearlescent Sky Blue pigment ink. Heat set so that it doesn’t smudge. (Embossing is not necessary for this step.)

3. Look for the ‘greeting’ you wish to use in the stamped piece, trim cardstock and then tear cardstock so that the word will be visible within one of the torn pieces.

4. Mount torn strips over matt gold cardstock and then onto a white card front.  Add baubles with foam tape, making sure that the chosen greeting isn’t covered.  Embellish with blue rhinestones.

5. Finish card by outlining the greeting with a metallic gold Sharpie.
• Ink all of the background stamp and stamp, this will give enough wording to be able to make a second card at the same time.
• Use a metallic gel pen instead of a Sharpie
• Try using other pearlescent inks and embossing powders for different effects
