Rhapsody

What can I say? Put simply - the 2012 Australia / South Pacific Stamping Cruise on board the Rhapsody of the Seas was LOADS of fun! Our stamping group was amazing, they came from all over Australia and New Zealand and together we spent 13 days at sea exploring the islands of Fiji, New Caledonia and Vanuatu! I had an absolute ball teaching all the workshops. As you can imagine, the classroom was buzzing with excitement as new projects were being completed, new techniques being learned and new friendships being made.

The photo above is our stamping group. A big thanks to Lorelle (pictured in the front row on the right), owner of Crafting Cruises, for all her hard work and effort in co-ordinating the group.

Here is just a sneak at some of the projects that I taught on the cruise. I will share the projects in full when I return from Europe in a couple of weeks. But for now, I just wanted to give you a glimpse of the fun stuff we got up to :)

First up was a 2012 Stamping Cruise Journal:

We also created framed shadow box with loads of texture:

Another great class was a Seaside Printers Tray:

There's just a few of the classes I taught... the stampers also created a lot of cards and a 2012 calendar in another 3 workshops. I'll share those photos in upcoming blog posts.

I would also like to say a HUGE thank you to the generous companies who helped make this cruise such an amazing adventure! These wonderful companies either sponsored workshops, donated prizes or sent in products that could be used to make cards for charities. I am forever grateful for your generous support:

While on board the ship, our stampers created a total of 212 cards which will be donated to Aussie Troops so they can write home to their families and Ronald McDonald house. Thank you to all of the stampers who contributed their time and creativity while out at sea! It was a fantastic effort which I am sure will be appreciated by many!!!

One of the best rewards of an adventure like this is not only the chance to explore new places, but the friendships that are created along the way. Thank you so much to all of you for sharing this journey with me!

Workshops at Dawn Bibby Design Studio

Darkroom Door - Monday, March 28, 2011

Happy Monday everyone! It's been a busy time here at DD HQ over the past few months, and I have lots to catch up on with the blog... especially with photos from workshops that I have been teaching and trade shows. Last month I went over to the UK and taught some workshops at Dawn Bibby Design Studio in Lancashire. It was a fabulous day!! Here's some photos from my time there:

The workshops were great, the ladies really made me feel very welcome and together we all had so much fun! I didn't manage to take any pictures during the first class, but here's some from the second class:

We created an accordion book using the Art de Fleur Collection and using Viva Decor Ferro on the covers. Texture was created by stamping into the Ferro with Background Stamps. Look at all the gorgeous covers here:

Here's some close ups of the texture... soooo yummy! This one is using the French Script Background stamp:

And here's one using the Flourish Background stamp:

We all had so much fun with the different stamps and all the different colours of Ferro! The different combinations are endless!

Here's a sneak peek at the inside of the books:

Everyone had chosen a different colour scheme to work with, and they all turned out so amazing! I love it when we all get to do 'show and tell' at the end so we can see all the different books together.

We all had a fabulous day. Dawn and all the staff were wonderful, all of the ladies who completed the workshops were so fun to be with too. One of the ladies, Sheila, had recently had a birthday and received this fabulous calendar that was created by her friend Karen:

Karen used the Alexander Bridge stamp from the Notre Dame Stamp set for the main image and Chocolatier stamps for the images on the sides. How fabulous does this look! What a great gift - Sheila was over the moon when she received this :)

Of course the workshops went by really quickly, time flies when you're having fun, right? Before I knew it, it was time to pack up and head down to the Stitches Trade show. I'll blog about that soon too. Here's a pic of Dawn and I at the end of the day.

A huge thanks to Dawn, the staff and all the students for a fabulous day!!

Scrap-N-Crop Retreat Photos - Malaysia

Darkroom Door - Friday, May 22, 2009

Hi everyone! We're back from our trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where I taught at the Scrap-N-Crop Art Retreat! To sum it up in a few words - very hot and very fun!! All of the ladies were so much fun and really got into the different techniques that we used in all of the classes. Here's a photo of the Royal Selangor Club (the black and white building on the left) where the retreat was held:

Notice the nice white Malaysian tablecloths? They weren't white for long!!!! haha. I think Distress Ink added a nice touch to them!

Here's the stamping table before it was attacked by the students:

I don't have an 'after' photo of the stamping table, but rest assured, it didn't look this neat and tidy!! Too much fun happens at this table, that's for sure.

Everyone was presented with an award at the end of the retreat:

A big thanks to Val and Penelope from Scrap-N-Crop for organising such a great retreat and for asking me to teach. I had so much fun meeting everyone and sharing all the products, techniques and ideas!!! Thank you to all of the students for your enthusiasm, karaoke, inspiration and friendship! I had a fabulous time and hope to see all of you again sometime.
